About Emily

Emily Wingate is an Indianapolis based watercolor artist focusing on florals and botanicals. Near-daily nature walks (which started when her son was little) serve as endless inspiration. She loves to brighten people's homes and offices with her colorful and vibrant works.

Emily’s love of art began early and was nurtured by her parents during her childhood and teenage years in St. Louis, MO. After she moved to Indiana for college, she facilitated expressive arts projects and workshops for elementary to high school children, including juvenile detention programs, while she worked at the Peace Learning Center in Indianapolis, IN from 2000-2002.

Emily graduated from the Herron School of Art and Design with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education in 2005 and taught art to middle school students in Indiana, She also worked on several private residence large scale murals and decorative painting projects, including the DeHaan Estate, before experiencing serious health issues in 2007.

While navigating her “new normal” she continues to find inspiration around every corner. Some of her doctors were the first to purchase and display her art in their offices. Her works are now found across the country in public and private collections, including the Ascension and Eskenazi Health Systems . Emily is also a Signature Member of the Watercolor Society of Indiana.
