Irises are some of my favorite flowers to paint. There is something about their soft, ruffly petals that speaks to the girlishness in me. This particular painting was one of the first flowers I painted in a larger format. The result was stunning- to see the veining and the detail up close, while paying close attention to the subtle change in color was incredibly satisfying. It’s even better in person!
