This piece is named “Glimmer II” due in part to the sunshine hitting the rocks through the water, thereby making them glimmer, but also because I recently learned how to see the “glimmers” in life. A glimmer is the opposite of a trigger when it comes to PTSD. Instead of triggering a distressing thought or feeling, glimmers remind you to see the beauty and joy in life. In healing my own PTSD, I’ve found that seeking out or just even noticing the glimmers has been a huge help to me.
