The Close Ups Collection was realized when I found myself getting lost in the details of the flowers I was painting. I loved how, when I zoomed in, the painting almost became abstract. I really wanted the viewer to get lost in the beauty of the flower as well, and to really pay attention to all of the small things that make up a flower. I found this petal pink peony on a college campus near my house. Every Spring they bloom around a fountain and give the statue and water the perfect backdrop. I love the soft pinks and yellows that seem to glow from within in this piece!
